The effects of this dwindling economy are definitly being felt in the fashion industry. The luxury brand is trying to enter into a debt reconstruction plan. If the plan fails the brand only has enough liquidity to last until August. Meaning production might cease in just a few weeks!

Net-a-porter is the latest to jump on the bandwagon with an app for iphone and ipod touch called Net-app."It’s a unique global fashion application for iPhones and iPod touches that allows users to shop and complete transactions on the go. The application also lets users check the latest fashion news, read Net-a-Porter’s monthly online magazine, email products to friends, add items to a wish list, and allows them to browse and shop the newest arrivals on the Net-a-Porter site." Sounds pretty cool and it's also a good way to gain extra revenue in this economy. I still wouldn't trade in my Blackberry for an Iphone !

Denim on Denim??

I have to say I am definitely not a fan of this look. I'm all for incorporating denim as a piece in your outfit,but denim on denim is not the way to go. Throw on a denim jacket with a cute dress or anything BUT jeans.

On my way to work I decided to stop by the Coach store to check out their new Poppy Collection which dropped last week. After sneaking some pictures I turned around to be faced with security who threatened to confiscate my camera unless I deleted my pictures. Therefore I took some magazine scans from their mini look book. The collection is definitly targeted to a younger audience girls from 13-18. Full of fun colors, glitter and sequins Poppy is a fun collection. Collection consist of bags,shoes, wallets and accecories price range from $198-$598.

As an animal lover and an active member of PETA I find this news to be disturbing. Unfortunately sometimes fashion and animal rights don’t go hand in hand. One of the most coveted bags ever created by mankind is the Kelly bag by Hermes Birkin. Hermes just announced that they are now breeding their own crocodiles to keep up the massive demands for their luxury handbags. Depending on what skin is used this bag can set you back up to $35,000 and it can take up to years to receive your bag since most of these bags have waiting list. Ah the life of the rich and famous Victoria Beckham’s collection is rumored to be worth one million dollars.

Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. Alexander Wang stayed shut when a couple of months ago Forever 21 released an almost identical version of the Fringe open toe boots from his spring ’09 collection. Now the retail store decides to throw out a VERY similar version of his wave dress also from his spring’09 collection. In my opinion its only a matter of time before Alexander Wang decides to take some legal action against Forever 21.

So I just caught a quick glimpse of the Tom Ford for men fragrance campaign and I am beyond speechless. Tom Ford definitely pushed the envelope on riskay. The fragrance is exclusively sold at Saks Fifth Ave 3.4 oz runs for $85.00 and 1.7oz for $60.00.
